Vyu.me is an application that can be used to shorten long URLs. There are a number of reasons that a user would want to use this service. First, shorter URL's are easier to post onto social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. Also, a short Vyu.me link would probably seem safer to most users than a large, multi-line URL. Finally, a short Vyu.me URL is easier for people to remember versus some of the gargantuan web addresses that exist on the cluttered web today. Vyu.me is a free tool for users to access, and they can shorten and share links through the Vyu.me community even if they don't sign up for sign into the service. This is particularly useful for quick link postings. Also, in creating a shortened link, users can be that much surer that those they are targeting won't mistype the web address. This is a good solution for print advertising efforts that reference a web address. Finally, Vyu.me offers an API and a bookmarklet, so users could quickly access this app from their toolbar and instantly shorten apps in a short amount of time. Overall, Vyu.me is sensible and can be a powerful tool.

Not much is known about the developers behind the Vyu.me application. The site appears to be relatively new and gaining in website traffic by the day. However, as of April 2012, it is still competing with the more widely known and accepted competition like Bit.ly and TinyURL.

Vyu.me is a newer URL shortening service. It isn't as popular as Bit.ly, so some may feel suspicious about clicking through a Vyu.me link. On the flip side, Vyu.me links seem to be a character or two shorter than Bit.ly at times, so this may be to their advantage.

Vyu.me is very simple to use and the site is fast and responsive. There were no issues, broken links or bugs encountered during this review. Overall, the application is solid. Also there is a bookmarklet and API available on the site so users could make the app accessible from their toolbar should they wish. Users can shorten a link even if they are not signed in or sign up for the application. They just won't be notified if anyone in the Vyu.me community comments on the link in such cases.

New users can sign up for a Vyu.me account by clicking on the 'Sign Up' link located on the homepage. The sign up process is very quick and simple to do. New accounts require the following information in order to be established: email address, password and username. That's it!

Vyu Me is a free service for sharing short URLs on the web. It is not to be used for purposes of spamming or any other illegal purpose. There is no service-level guarantee offered for Vyu.me.

Vyu.me is a great, free application for those who share URL's often and are looking for a way to condense the URL to avoid broken link issues and to improve their click-through rating (since shorter URL's tend to generate more links and engender more trust). Vyu.me is a nice alternative to Bit.ly for any users who may have had issues with that application.
